Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician® (CCSP®) seminar series

Life West, home of the Sports Performance Institute (SPI), is the place to advance in chiropractic sports and performance expertise. Study with excellent faculty and apply your skills on the field with Life West athletic programs alongside SPI staff.

The Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician® (CCSP®) program is a hands-on, fast-paced, cutting-edge sports program that combines live weekends and online learning for a total of 100 hours of study and will qualify you to earn the prestigious CCSP® certificate, issued by the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians®.  There are 50 hours of coursework at Life West, 50 hours of online coursework, practice in the field, and written and practical exams. It is a rigorous, professional credentialing program that promotes professional knowledge and competency of chiropractic practitioners engaged in the specialty of chiropractic sports performance.

Once completed, you’ll be ready for the CCSP® exam given through the ACBSP™.

CCSP ® and DACBSP® programs may be taken concurrently.  Life West will offer the DACBSP program when interest reaches critical mass.  Please contact conted@lifewest.edu to express interest.

Bill Moreau, DC, DACBSPWILLIAM MOREAU, DC, DACBSP, FACSM, CSCS

Dr. Bill Moreau is the Managing Director of Sports Medicine for the United States Olympic Committee and the founder and educational coordinator for DConline. He coordinates postgraduate sports programming including many presentations with University of Western States, Southern California University of Health Sciences, and Palmer University.

Dr. Moreau has a long history of successfully presenting postgraduate education for over twelve years and he is a certified online instructor. Dr. Moreau has presented over 450 postgraduate presentations throughout the United States and Internationally. He has worked with Olympic, collegiate, high school and recreational athletes for over 29 years. Dr. Moreau also provides expert testimony regarding chiropractic malpractice cases.

Dr. Moreau is well published with an emphasis on injuries in athletics including concussion. He serves on the editorial review board of the Journal of Chiropractic Medicine, was an associate editor for the Journal of Sports Chiropractic and Rehabilitation for seven years before the journal was retired. Dr. Moreau has served for many years on the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians as past president, BOD member and advisor.

Joel Dakanich, DC, DACBSPJOEL DAKANICH, DC, DACBSP

Dr. Joel Dekanich is the founder and director of Vail Integrative Medical Group. Having practiced in Vail for the past twenty years, Dr. Dekanich has established a reputation for successfully diagnosing and treating difficult sports and spine conditions.  As an Ironman competitor and ultra marathoner, Dr. Dekanich treats Olympic and elite/professional athletes to weekend warriors and ‘everyday’ patients. Dr. Dekanich is a Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians (250 nationally) and routinely lectures and attends well over 100 hours of continuing education and symposiums each year with emphasis in physical medicine, rehabilitation and current research and literature.

Dr. Dekanich has been featured nationally on the cover of The American Chiropractor magazine for his vision and dedication in creating the VIMG multidiscipline model. Dr. Dekanich is part of the PGA medical/chiropractic staff and worked with the Olympic Committee medical staff at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO in preparation for the athlete summer games in Beijing. Dr. Dekanich lectures for a post graduate program at multiple colleges across the country including the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.

Dr. Dekanich was selected to the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) track and field medical staff for the ParaPan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico in November, 2011.

Sean Drake, DC, CCSPSEAN DRAKE, DC, MS

Dr. Drake received his bachelor’s degree at Florida State University where he was a walk-on to the Track & Field team. He received his Masters in Sports Health Science with an emphasis in Sports Injury Management as well as his Doctorate in Chiropractic from Life University in Atlanta.

Dr. Drake holds numerous professional certifications including Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP) from the American Academy of Chiropractic Sports Physicians, Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES) with the National Academy of Sports Medicine, Graston Technique Certification, and specializes in performance for athletes.

In addition to running multiple chiropractic clinics, Dr. Drake has extensive experience in treating amateur and professional athletes, serving as the Team Doctor for the Mississippi Hound Dogs, Team Chiropractor for the Life University and Life West Rugby Teams. He is currently Medical Director for the Summer and Winter Dew Tour, Nitro Circus World Games, Nitro Circus Live Tours, and the UCI BMX Supercross World Cups.

After founding and serving as the Sports Performance Institute Director at Life Chiropractic College West, Dr. Drake recently accepted the position of Performance Director at TPI in Oceanside, CA working alongside Dr. Greg Rose. As Vice President and Performance Director of RacquetFit Dr. Drake, along with their partner and sponsor the USPTA, they are expanding TPI’s worldwide health & fitness certification program to include the sport of tennis.

Dr. Drake’s hobbies include tennis, surfing, cycling, swimming, skydiving, sailing, and running.

 

Dustin Nabhan, DC, DACBSPDUSTIN NABHAN, DC, DACBSP

Dustin Nabhan DC DACBSP CSCS is a Chiropractor, board certified sports medicine specialist, and certified strength and conditioning specialist. Dr. Nabhan graduated Cum Laude with a BS in Physiology from the University of Arizona, was class valedictorian at Southern California University of Health Sciences where he earned his Doctorate in Chiropractic, was Residency trained in Sports Medicine at Southern California University of Health Sciences, and later completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship with the United States Olympic Committee.

Dr. Nabhan has lectured on the graduate level to Chiropractic, Massage, Acupuncture students and on the post-graduate level to Doctors of Chiropractic seeking certification in Sports Medicine. Additionally, he has worked in the private sector in the fitness and strength and conditioning industry as both a coach and rehabilitation specialist.

Dr. Nabhan currently is employed by the United States Olympic Committee as a Health Care Provider at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. He also serves as a Rehabilitation Consultant to ChikaraSPORT, a sports performance facility in Southern California.

 

Jenna StreetJENNA STREET, MS, ATC

Jenna Street is the coordinator of Sports Medicine Clinic Operations for the United States Olympic Committee (USOC). After finishing her master’s degree, Street completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship with the USOC, where she’s worked full time since 2009. She currently works in a clinical setting with both Olympic and Paralympic athletes, and routinely travels internationally with Paralympic teams to events, including the 2014 Summer Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China, 2012 Summer Paralympic Games in London and 2016 Summer Paralympic Games in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, in 2016.

In 2013, Street was a keynote speaker at Michigan State University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine Sports Medicine Conference, where she spoke about Olympic sports medicine. She is based in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She currently serves on the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Young Professionals’ Committee and the Board of Certification’s Continuing Professional Working Development Working Group.

Life Chiropractic College West is accredited by the CCE and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).

NOTE to DCs licensed in: CO, CT, DE, DC, ID, IL, IN, IA, MD, MA, MI, MS, MT, NE, OH, OR, RI, SC, UT, VT, VA, WA, WY, BC, NB, ON, QC.  These states generally accept programs sponsored by a college that is accredited by the Council on Chiropractic Education (CCE).  These states and provincial boards do not require an application from CCE colleges. While it is highly likely that credits will be accepted, Life Chiropractic College West cannot guarantee that any session of this offering will be accepted by these licensing board(s). Life West urges licensees to familiarize themselves with the laws governing continuing education in the jurisdictions where they hold licensure.

The CCSP seminars are open to anyone on an individual basis; pursuit of the certification is not necessary to enroll in the seminar series.

If you register for the full series and later cancel, you will be charged the individual module price for any attended CCSP modules before refund of balance is made.

Cost

Complete Program

The 2020 cost of the complete CCSP® program is $2700.  This includes all live and online coursework.  Online coursework may not be purchased separately.  Participants seeking the Certificate must register for the complete program rather than individual courses.

Individual Seminars

Individual live courses are $900 each, $369 each for returning CCSPs.  When you register for the full CCSP program, individual courses are significantly discounted.  You may not purchase online coursework separately, so individual seminars are only recommended for those not seeking certification or those already certified.

Exam

The exam is administered by ACBSP® and is $350 paid to ACBSP® when registering for the exam.  It is offered twice a year, once in April that is held in conjunction with the Chiropractic Sports Sciences Symposium, and once in November in multiple locations, by demand.

Eligibility

All DCs are eligible.  Chiropractic students in their final quarter may register for the CCSP.

Every attempt is made to offer Life West CE programs as announced. However, Life West reserves the right to adjust program faculty, locations, dates, times and tuition to accommodate unanticipated occurrences and to cancel programs owing to insufficient enrollment, illness, or other factors.  Life West will notify advance registrants of any cancellation or significant program changes. Life West is not responsible for any expenses incurred by registrants due to adjustments or cancellations.
