ICA UCC: Depression, Anxiety, and the Craniocervical Junction (Kessinger, Online 2022)

Overview

• The brain gut: gut brain axis is an important consideration for patients suffering with depression and/or anxiety.
• The craniocervical junction plays a critical role in the health of the brain gut: gut brain axis.
• Proper cerebral spinal fluid flow is essential for healthy brain function. Altered cerebral spinal fluid flow can impact brain function potentially leading to depression and/or anxiety.
• More patients with right atlas laterality suffer depression, which is consistent with the hemispheric model of brain function.

Robert Kessinger, DC, DABCI, DACBN

Dr. Kessinger graduated from Logan Chiropractic College in 1988. He is a board-certified Chiropractic Internist with the designation DABCI and Board certified in Clinical Nutrition (DACBN). He is an instructor in both the DABCI and DCCJP programs. He has presented at numerous conferences and has been published in several clinical journals including JMPT and JCCA. He is the founder of the KCUCS upper cervical technique. Dr. Kessinger shares clinical pearls and anecdotal examples with solid, evidence based, clinical information to increase patient cooperation as well as repeatable and quantifiable results.
