•The Early Evidence of Mechano-Immunological Influences: anecdote and science review.
•A look at the publications of the era in chiropractic and osteopathic literature.
• Reviewing the early published evidence linking spinal biomechanical function to sympathetic nervous system control of blood supply and to visceral parenchymal physiology.

Hour 2 - TECHNIQUE

The middle years, the 1970s: progressing science
Reviewing the continuing published evidence linking spinal biomechanical function to sympathetic nervous system control of blood supply and to visceral parenchymal physiology. These years relied on improved understanding of physiology, proprioception, and technology such as electrical skin resistance.

Hour 3 – BASIC SCIENCES

Immunology Overview
•Understanding the innate immune system
•Understanding the adaptive immune response

Hour 4 - TECHNIQUE

Chiropractic adjustment, subluxation patho-anatomy
•Discuss the integrated physiology between chiropractic adjusting and inflammation, fibrosis, & the Gate Theory.
•Influence of spinal adjusting on clinical neuroanatomy of chronic spine pain, including: receptors, synapses, cord pathways, brain representation.
•Distinguish between the clinical management of compressive neuropathology v. supersensitivity nerve interference.

Hour 5 – BASIC SCIENCES

Immuno-Sympathetic Interactions
•Learn how the innate immune response is controlled by the sympathetic nervous system

Hour 6 - TECHNIQUE

Mechano-Sympathetic Interactions
•Review the modern evidence linking spinal biomechanical function and the spinal adjustment to sympathetic nervous system.
•The modern technology includes levels of salivary amylase, radioactive glucose, PET scans, sensory evoked potentials, etc.

Hour 7 – BASIC SCIENCES

Immuno-Parasympathetic Interactions
•Review cytokine influence on the vagus nerve

Hour 8 - TECHNIQUE

Chiropractic Adjustment and Mechano-Parasympathetic Interactions
•Review how cervical spine mechanics, as actualized through chiropractic adjusting, influences the parasympathetic nervous system

Hour 9 – BASIC SCIENCES

Cellular immuno-physiology
• Integrate chiropractic adjustment, blood flow, cellular fermentation, cellular respiration, melatonin, and the cytokine storm.

Hour 10 – BASIC SCIENCES

Review of the pertinent literature
•Review the peer-reviewed literature supporting the models covered in class.
