Learning Objectives
By the end of the seminar, participants will be better able to:
- Understand the historic and philosophic roots of successful chiropractic treatment of the respiratory system.
- Perform a complete respiratory exam and diagnose major respiratory conditions. To understand how to use a pulse oximeter and a spirometer.
- Recommend the specific diet, supplements and exercises for respiratory conditions.
- Be able to stretch constricted fascia over the ribs, on the diaphragm and the paraspinal regions in order to improve breathing.
- Treat the six structural causes of sleep apnea: Dropped hard palate with cranial adjusting, constriction of the nasal bones with endonasal technique, and restricted movement in the ribs with a drop table.
- To understand various breathing techniques and know when to recommend them for asthma, anxiety, fatigue, insomnia, and excelling in sports.
- To understand the importance of the gut-lung Axis, how to test the microbiome and apply the test results.
- Be able to use a nebulizer and perform postural drainage with percussion therapy.
Day 1: 10/19/24
12-1 pm: History and Chiropractic Philosophy (Philosophy)
The first hour will focus on the history of chiropractic and the respiratory system, how chiropractic saved lives during the 1918 Flu Pandemic and lead to licensure in several states. I'll discuss the physiology of the respiratory system and define the causes and treatment of asthma.

1-2 pm: Symptoms of Respiratory Conditions (History taking & Exam)
The second hour will focus on symptoms and diagnosis of Bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder and emphysema.

2-3 pm: Diagnosis of Respiratory Conditions (History taking & Exam)
The third hour will focus on symptoms and diagnosis of pneumonia and sleep apnea. I will also cover the structural causes of sleep apnea, blood tests and how to use the finger pulse oximeter.

12-1 pm: Fascial Alignment Stretch Technique (Technique)
The seventh hour will focus on how to stretch the fascia in the ribs and diaphragm in order to improve breathing and improve range of motion of the spine.
- Reasons why working with the fascia is important for your practice.
- How to stretch the fascia in the ribs and diaphragm to improve breathing. ● Working with the fascia step-by-step in the pectoralis region, quadratus lumborum and the rhomboids to improve breathing.
- Working with the paraspinal fascia in the cervical, thoracic, lumbar and sacroiliac regions to reduce pain and improve range of motion.
1-2 pm: Advanced Rib adjustments (Technique)
The eighth hour will focus on various rib adjustments that expand movement of the chest to make it easier to breathe.
