Fear to Safety: How to Settle and Thrive during Challenging Times (Rockwell & Sitton, May 30, 2020)

May 30, 2020

LIVE ONLINE WEBINAR

Dr. Bruce Lipton is stuck in New Zealand owing to COVID travel restrictions and cancellations. We had to cancel the Embodying the Biology of Belief course, but happily Dr. Lipton's two co-instructors - Lipton's personal chiropractor Dr. Omri Sitton, and close colleague Dr. Jeff Rockwell - are able to share some timely embodied wisdom with us on the very same day.

Overview

Four hours of technique include tonal adjusting, myofascial release and cranial sacral therapy that can be used as enhancing tools with any chiropractic adjustment.

In the midst of the most trying times in recent history, the stress levels we are enduring is unprecedented. How do we cope and take care of ourselves, let alone take care of our family and practice? You will be inspired to use this most stressful time to adapt, grow and be of greater service to your community. We will explore the current relevance of the polyvagal theory and how to apply its principles through touch to create a greater sense of safety in yourself and those you adjust. In this interactive webinar, you will learn time-tested skills from various chiropractic tonal models such as Network Spinal, Torque Release Technique, Upper Cervical and SOT to help you quickly identify, evaluate and correct your patients’ postural defense patterns. You will learn chiropractic “social engagement portals” that can be accessed to shift your patients’ physiology into states of deep relaxation. You will also learn self-care, somatic activities to teach your patients remotely and be of great service to others right now when they need it the most!

Hour 1
Introduction to Drs. Omri and Jeff. The importance of our beliefs and rituals in stressful times. Omri will lead a 5-minute “Tuning the Spine” meditation to ground, calm and connect. Jeff will discuss the latest on stress and trauma research and how it relates to you and your chiropractic practice. What has changed (and what has remained the same) since the 1918 flu epidemic. The latest neuroscience on the power of touch. We will also introduce the Triune Autonomic nervous system and the relevance of applying Polyvagal Theory to your practice

Hour 2 – Cranial and Upper Cervical Patterns
The anatomy of the Ventral Vagal Complex (VVC), the Sympathetic System (SS), and the Dorsal Vagal Complex (DVC). The anatomy of the body’s shock and trauma centers and how to apply your technique to specific portals into these important body mind areas. Cranial and Cervical subluxation patterns will be discussed, and participants will learn how to find and correct these patterns using models from Network Spinal Technique, Torque Release Technique and Cranial Sacral Technique.

Hour 3 – Flexion and Extension Defense Patterns
We will learn how to manually engage and relieve stress and trauma in the Sympathetic   System (SS) through adjustments to your technique. We will discuss adverse mechanical cord tension and its relevance to defense posturing and subluxation compensational patterns. Participants will learn how to modulate their touch during application of technique to directly elicit a relaxation response and be able to feel the difference in range of motion and tissue tone through reassessment.

Hour 4 – Lumbar, Sacral and Pelvic Patterns
Participants will learn how to access the Dorsal Vagal Complex (DVC) and adjust body-held stress within the low back complex. We will discuss the importance and relevance of detecting the emotional/mental stress cues and ways to enhance the efficacy of your adjustment. Thompson Leg Check and Cranial Sacral pearls will be taught to help participants detect and correct sacral subluxations.

Hour 5 - Extremities
We will continue to explore our new touch skills into the extremities and learn specific techniques and fulcrums to assist the doctor in releasing stubborn, held patterns that need to continually be adjusted over and over. Participants will learn to use skills from myofascial release and dermoneuromodulation (DNM).

Hour 6
We will learn how to teach your patients (and yourself) neurological self-care activities for stress and shock, immune function, somatically related gut disturbances and low back and neck pain. We will discuss how we are helping our clients on-line, including an outline of what a typical session looks like. Omri will close with a meditation and poem for inspiration.

Jeff Rockwell, DCJEFF ROCKWELL, DC

Dr. Jeff Rockwell combines over 30 years of experience teaching and practicing chiropractic, somatic education and Canadian osteopathy with his love of poetry, music and philosophy to teach highly creative classes that bring the student quickly to the heart of healing. Jeff is a firm believer that bodywork, movement therapy, chiropractic and osteopathic practices and principles can bring serenity and self-regulation to the nervous system, and an embodied interconnectedness to the larger nervous system we call the world – one bodymind at a time.

Dr. Rockwell has produced many educational tools (DVDs, manuals and books) for students based on his unique, yet classical, approaches to chiropractic, osteopathy and somatic education. Among them is the book The Health That Is Never Lost: A Vitalistic Approach to Osteopathy, Chiropractic and Bodywork, as well as Vagus Nerve Self-Care: Becoming the Flow Around Life’s Obstacles (2018).

Dr. Rockwell is a graduate of Life Chiropractic College.  He has taught at Parker University, College of Chiropractic in Dallas, Texas from 1992-2002 and at National Holistic Institute in San Jose, CA from 2009-2015. He currently teaches at Cypress Health Institute in Santa Cruz and provides care for his clients in private practice in Los Gatos and in Mill Valley.

Omri Sitton, DCOMRI SITTON, DC

Dr. Sitton graduated from Parker Chiropractic College in Dallas, Texas in December 2000 and has been practicing chiropractic and studying various bodywork techniques since 1997. He has achieved certification in Network Spinal Analysis, Torque Release Technique and Zero Balancing. He has extensive training in Somato Respiratory Integration (SRI), Craniosacral Therapy, Continuum Movement and meditation. Since 2004 he has been involved in the Get Access Workshop (accessworkshop.com) assisting doctors and students through sensory enhancement training with its founder and developer, Dr. Robert Weigand, D.C.

He has operated chiropractic centers in Oakland and Santa Cruz, CA and Miami, FL. Dr. Sitton’s approach to healing offers a fusion of 17 years of personal and clinical experience stemming from vitalistic and neurology-based chiropractic, as well common elements and principles fundamental to a variety of long-standing healing practices.

Dr. Sitton has been Dr. Bruce Lipton’s chiropractor for the last decade. Having been fascinated with Bruce’s work (years before Biology of Belief came out) it was no surprise that their field energies brought them together. They share similar life philosophies and healing principles that they live by and inspire their students with.
