Celebrated Life West faculty member Mark Thompson, DC is back and teaching a brand new course for chiropractors called "9 Essential Characteristics of Successful Function: The Science of Human Posture Practically Applied in the Clinical Setting." The course will be offered live on campus and via live webinar three times this year. For those coming to campus there will be an additional hour in the anatomy lab where you'll see theory at work in real bodies. 

This course brings together a lifetime of multidisciplinary work in a deep exploration of anatomy and chiropractic practice. Join Dr. Thompson and master new skills to obtain and maintain patients’ healthiest posture regardless of their exercise commitment. Developing Dr. Thompson's nine characteristics as locus points for understanding and education will transform your patients and your practice. Teaching Methods

Live webcast interactive classroom presentation with slides, discussion, Q&A.

The 8th hour of the course takes place in the campus cadaver lab.  Owing to legal restrictions, we are unable to include cadavers in online courses.  This hour is only available to live on-campus attendees.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this program, the doctor will

  1. have a clearer understanding of what is meant by active musculoskeletal neutral; how to achieve, feel, and teach it.
  2. be able to show each patient how to more effectively and efficiently use their everyday body positions and movements to enhance health and wellbeing.
  3. know how to work with aberrant spinal conditions such as scoliosis, hypo- and hyper- lordosis and kyphosis spinal patterns along with extremity conditions

MARK THOMPSON, BFA, MA, DC, CCSP, CSCS, ART

A 1991 graduate and retired faculty member of Life West, Dr. Thompson taught in the Diagnosis and Anatomy departments at Life West. He is a certified chiropractic sports physician (CCSP) and a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS). Credentialed as an Active Release Techniques® provider, he specializes in all manners of soft tissue and repetitive strain injuries both of the spine and the extremities. Dr. Thompson practiced in San Francisco, where he specialized in soft tissue and repetitive strain injuries of both the spine and the extremities.

In addition, Dr. Thompson contributes to continuing education programs for health care providers, centered on human anatomy and cadaver dissection. He has served as a continuing education provider for Life West college, the American College of Sports Medicine, American Council on Exercise and the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America.

Changes and Refunds

Every attempt is made to offer Life West CE programs as announced. However, Life West reserves the right to adjust program faculty, locations, dates, times and tuition to accommodate unanticipated occurrences and to cancel programs owing to insufficient enrollment, illness, or other factors.  Life West will notify advance registrants of any cancellation or significant program changes. Life West is not responsible for any expenses incurred by registrants due to adjustments or cancellations.

Refunds for program registration are granted if requested in writing no later than one business day before program begins. If registrants cancel within one week of program start date, a $50 processing fee will be deducted from refunds.

Less than one business day before the program begins, registration is nonrefundable.

Required Hardware/software

Computer, tablet, or phone with sufficient audio volume, a functional camera, and a strong Internet connection are required.  For attendance verification, your camera must be on throughout the seminar.
